农历每年二月初一前后（公历3月5-6日之间），就到了二十四节气中的第三个节气——惊蛰。它意味着冬眠的动物被春雷唤醒，大地万物复苏，因此常有“春雷惊百虫”之说。
到了惊蛰，春天总算坐稳了它的江山，把冬天残余的气息涤荡得干干净净，让所有的生命都意气风发。
Awakening of Insects (Jing Zhe),the third of the twenty-four solar terms, falls around the first day of February every year on Chinese lunar calendar (between March 5-6 of the Gregorian calendar). Folklore says that hibernating animals are awakened by spring thunder and the earth is revived. Therefore, it is often said that spring thunder wakes up hundreds of insects.
On the Awakening of Insects, spring finally revs up to its full force, ushering away the remnants of winter and rejuvenating all forms of life.
万物绽放，春光可追
“草长莺飞二月天，拂堤杨柳醉春烟。”惊蛰过后，满世界的生机都在此时肆意释放。万物生长，百花次第盛开，姹紫嫣红，春光烂漫，都是对春日勃勃生机最诗意的礼赞。
After the Awakening of Insects, all forms of life force around the world are released in all their glories. Organisms begin to grow, flowers bloom in various shades and hues, and the colors of spring emanate from every corner. These are the most poetic praises for the vibrancy of springtime.

春耕大忙，万象更新
“微雨众卉新，一雷惊蛰始。田家几日闲，耕种从此起。”惊蛰之后，气温逐渐回升，休眠了一个冬天的农作物又开始重新生长，繁忙的春耕也将正式拉开帷幕。新鲜的空气，新鲜的土地，在春天的晨间，等待着勤劳的农家人，撒下新一年的希望。
“Grass starts to grow after a rainfall in spring. Awakening of Insects arrives after a spring thunder. Farmers have little time to rest as now they have to work hard again.” After the Awakening of Insects, temperature rises gradually. The crops, having slept for the entire winter, begin to grow and another busy planting season kicks off. Fresh air and fertile soil are ready for the hard working farmers.Every spring morning,they diligently sow hope for the rest of the year.

惊蛰出钓，三五成群
惊蛰前后，动物从冬眠中醒来，鱼儿也不例外。他们从深水游到浅水中来觅食，交配和产卵，正是钓鱼的好时机。钓鱼可以带来身心的放松，沐浴在阳光下，聆听小鸟的歌唱，享受清新的花香。
Around theAwakening of Insects, animals wake up from hibernation, including fish. They swim from deep to shallow waters to forage, mate and lay eggs. It’s a good time to go fishing. Basking in the sun, fishing is a great way to relax. We can also listen to the tweets of birds and enjoy fragrance of flowers.

趣味习俗，好运常在
根据中国古代民间传说，白虎是口舌、是非之神，每年都会在惊蛰时节出来觅食，有时会咬人。人们在惊蛰那天祭白虎，画一只白虎在纸上，再在它的嘴上涂猪血或者猪油，意思是让它吃饱后不再咬人，避免坏运气和是非矛盾。
According to ancient Chinese folk legends, white tiger is the god of dispute. It hunts for food during the Awakening of Insects every year. Sometimes it even bites people. Onthe Awakening of Insects, people would paint a white tiger and put pig’s blood or lard on its mouth to avoid bad luck and drive away future disputes.

顺时养生，远离疾病
惊蛰时节，乍暖还寒，气候比较干燥，很容易使人口干舌燥、外感咳嗽，此时应多食清淡食物，如：菠菜、芹菜、山药、莲子。民间有“惊蛰吃了梨，一年都精神”的民谚。梨性寒味甘，有润肺止咳、滋阴清热的功效，是春季养生的上佳之选。
During the period of Awakening of Insects, the weather is still a bit dry and cool as it is still in the early spring. People often get parched lips, thirst and even coughs during this period and are suggested to adopt a light diet and eatvegetablessuch as spinach, celery,Chinese yam and lotus nuts.
Itis believed that if you eat pears during the period of Awakening of Insects you would remain in good spirit throughout the year. Pears are known for their cold properties and sweet flavor, which are effective in invigorating the lung, stopping coughs and eliminating heat by nourishing Yin energy. Thus, the fruit appears to be one of the healthiest choices in spring.
