ISEB Test examinations
The Independent Schools Examinations Board (ISEB) is composed of Heads from the three Associations which represent the leading independent schools in the country: The Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference, The Girls’ Schools Association and The Independent Association of Prep Schools. The papers are set by examiners appointed by the Board, but theanswers are marked by the senior schoolfor which a candidate is entered.

Some schools ask prospective students to sit the 11+ ISEB Pre-test examination, then ask successful candidates back to sit their own school’s examination at a later date (e.g. City of London School). Other schools ask students to sit both the 11+ ISEB Pre-Test and then the ISEB Common Entrance at 11+ or 13+. Or Pre-test，School test and Common Entrance。

The examinations are usually taken in the candidate’s current school, but can also be taken at the school they are applying to or at a local ISEB centre. It is best to contact the student’s current school and the school(s) you are applyingto in order to arrange this.

The ISEB Common Pre-Test
（ISEBPre-test）
The ISEB Pre-Tests are taken when a pupil is in Year 6 and are an age-standardised measure of ability and attainment. They are online. The tests include Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and mathematics. They are in a multiple-choice format and take about two-and-a-half hours to complete (English 25 minutes, mathematics 50 minutes, non-verbal reasoning 32 minutes, verbal reasoning 36 minutes); the tests can be taken together or at separate times.
ISEB Pre-test，也叫做Common Pre-test通常在考生Year 6的时候进行。
小编补充：11+ Entry，Pre-test是在Year 6进行；有些学校13+Entry的Pre-test也在year 6进行，比如各大知名男子公学。
Pre-test是机考，会根据考生的年龄来测试考生的能力和掌握的知识。考试科目包括：VR， NRV，英语和数学。题型为单选题，考试时长为2个半小时（英语25分钟，数学50分钟，NVR 32分钟，VR 36分钟），考试可以一次性完成，也可以分成几次完成。
The tests are provided by GL Assessment. It demonstrates tests which are set out in a similar way to the ISEB Common Pre-Tests and contains examples of verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions.

The ISEBCommon Entrance at 11+
（ISEB 11+ CE Test）
Students sit the Common Entrance examination at 11+ when they are in Year 6, mainly for entrance to senior independent girls’ schools. There are two examination sessions each year, in November and January. Most girls sit the examination in January. They take papers in English, mathematics and Science.

（ISEB 13+ CE Test）
The 13+ Common Entrance examination is strongly supported by many of the top prep and independent senior schools in the UK. Its rigorous syllabuses and breadth of subjects provide a strong academic focus for pupils in Years 7 and 8 and an excellent preparation for GCSEs.
ISEB 13+ Common Entrance（简称13+ CE test）考试受到英国顶级预备小学和私立中学的支持，考核内容覆盖了7-8年级的学习内容，为GCSE进行充分的准备。
Pupils sit the Common Entrance examination at 13+ when they are in Year 8. There are three examination sessions each year, in November, January and May/June.
The core subjects – English, Mathematics and Science – are compulsory. In addition, candidates can sit papers in a wide range of subjects chosen from French, Geography, German, Classical Greek, History, Latin, TPR and Spanish.
13+ Common Entrance考试一般在8年级进行，每年安排三次，11月，1月和5/6月。
