共同来庆祝新西兰妇女获得选举权的125周年纪念日
in celebrating the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in your country
新西兰妇女为争取投票权所取得的成就
The achievements of the women of New Zealand who campaigned for their right to vote
并且还是全世界第一个成功的例子 这的确值得我们所有人钦佩
and were the first in the world to achieve it are universally admired
因此我也十分期待这个特别庆祝活动
In looking forward to this very special occasion
我不仅仅为达成这一非凡成就所带来的重要影响所感慨
I reflected on the importance of this achievement
更是为这一举措背后的象征意义所震撼
but also the larger impact of what this symbolizes
因为事实的确如此
because yes
妇女的投票权与女权主义息息相关
Women’s suffrage is about feminism
而女权主义又与公平息息相关
but feminism is about fairness
选举权不仅关乎着是否有投票的权利 更关乎着它所代表的含义
Suffrage is not simply about the right to vote but also about what that represents
对基本人权的尊重
The basic and fundamental human right
能够参与对你自己和你的社区未来的选择
of being able to participate in the choices for your future and that of your community
你的参与和你发出的声音让你真正成为这个世界的一部分
The involvement and voice that allows you to be a part of the very world that you are a part of
妇女的选举权不仅仅限于妇女投票的权利
and women’s suffrage is not simply about the right to vote for women
更是象征着对所有人的基本人权的尊重
but also about what that represents the basic and fundamental human right of all people
包括那些被边缘化的社会成员
including those members of society who have been marginalized
而这种权利 是无关于肤色 种族 性别和出身的
whether for reasons of race,gender,ethnicity or orientation
人人都有权利 参与决策规划自己和社区的未来的议题
to be able to participate in the choices for their future and their community
所以 新西兰的人们 干得漂亮！
So Bravo New Zealand
在125年前就赋予了妇女这样的权利
for championing this right a hundred and twenty-five years ago
对那些理应拥有积极发言权和投票权的女性
for the women who well deserved to have an active voice an acknowledged vote
你们的这一努力为全球所有人铺平平权的道路
and for all of the people that this effort has paved the way for globally
为此我们献上最诚挚的感谢
We all deeply thank you

All of it separates whether of race,class,creed or sex
