Being around someone who lacks curiosity can easily become boring; it’s only a matter of time.

One of the best ways to judge whether someone is interesting or not, is by counting how many different topics of conversation they bring up.

Everyone knows someone who only ever complains about work or moans about the problems they’re having with their partner.
你身边肯定有这样的人，他们总是不停地抱怨工作不顺或者和伴侣相处出了问题。
These people tend to repeat themselves, endlessly retelling the same so-called jokes and funny stories. That’s why boring people don’t make good conversationalists.
他们总是重复自以为有趣的笑话和故事，所以无趣的人通常不是好的谈话对象。
What they really care about is themselves. They lack the knowledge and experience to take part in a variety of conversations.
他们真正关注的只有自己，并且他们的知识储备和经历贫乏到不足以支撑内容丰富的对话。

What’s the point of speaking that language? It’s not practical at all.

These phrases are like bombs of negative energy, killing off any sparks of interest.

People who use them are dyed-in-the-wool utilitarians, who only do what they think will be useful.

Yet many “useless” skills, such as drawing a perfect circle, juggling or counting off a minute without looking at a clock, are born out of curiosity.

Reading books, magazines and articles written by a variety of authors can give us a new lens through which to see the world, as well as inspiring new ideas.

But boring people don’t read much — they don’t care about other people’s stories and just want to continue living their own life.
但是无趣的人不爱看书，他们不爱读别人的故事，只想埋头过自己的生活。

Boring people don’t like change.
无聊的人拒绝改变。
They don’t try to make new friends if they already have someone else to hang out with. They refuse to try new food if they can just eat what they usually have. They don’t like traveling to new places, because it’s too challenging.
他们有了故交陪伴就尽量不交新朋友，能吃熟悉的食物就不尝试新的美食，他们也不去陌生的地方旅行，因为这会有风险。
Being boring is a manifestation of living in your comfort zone, because the fear of uncertainty only causes stagnancy. And to stand still is to be a bore.
无趣的表现形式是囚禁于自己的舒适圈，因为对于不确定性的恐惧使人固步自封，而止步不前便是无趣的开端。

Some people hate the idea of being different or being wrong (which isn’t that big of a deal most of the time, by the way).

They prefer to follow the well-trodden path and will eschew their own point of view in favor of an “authoritative opinion.”

The curious, however, question what everyone else takes for granted. They are open to possibilities and differences, and they cast off prejudices.
但是，有好奇心的人则会怀疑众人都认为理所当然的事。他们拥抱任何可能性和差异，不带着固有的偏见。
Most importantly, they know to be themselves.
最重要的是，他们知道做自己。
