Even for people working closely with Ian, it is hard to imagine him getting emotional around others, but that’s what he did at the end of his second headline show at Spicy. He expressed gratitude and how he has come so far. When he said “I haven’t finished yet!” when a friend presented flowers, you knew the show was worth the ticket. Again, thank you for coming & you guys are so lucky to see a true Ian!!!

即使已经跟Ian很熟了，也很难想象他会在大家面前展现感性的一面。但是！前几天在Spicy演完第二个专场 My life in China 后，他竟意外地进行了一番走心发言，感恩大家的到来，也感慨了作为老外脱口秀演员一路走来的不容易，甚至还发生了朋友上前献花结果被Ian一句“我还没说完呢！”吓到撤退的小插曲。整场演出喜剧效果都拉满了！想对那天来的观众们说：谢谢你们的到来&真是给你们赚到喽！
Ian: 没想到演完专场，还有写作任务
I was asked to write a report about my headline show last Saturday.A REPORT!!! LIKE I WORK IN AN OFFICE!!! Here’s a happy not to say thanks.
上周演完专场，我竟然被安排要写个回顾报告。报告！！我是在办公室工作吗！！那我就勉强写一下吧。
Before I continue, I will just say that my openers, Frankie A (host) and Davy (feature), absolutely smashed it. By the time I got on stage, the crowd was on fire.
首先要感谢Frankie A的主持和Davy为我开场。我上场前，气氛就已经铺垫得非常到位了。
I had an absolute blast performing last Saturday, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who came out and filled the room. Knowing that the show was “sold out” has a huge psychological benefit, although I would be grateful to do this if only 2 people came out to see me. (Don’t tell Norah and Kuan Kuan). I also want to give a special thank you to the people who shared the event and the media outlets that covered and promoted it.
专场演得很尽兴，谢谢每一位来捧场的观众。得知售罄的那一刻让我的信心大增，但就算只有两个人来看我也会很开心（别告诉Norah和宽宽）！我也想感谢所有为我宣传的朋友们和媒体。
Developing one hour of stand-up comedy means trying out about eight hours of material and refining itover months or years into what the audience sees on stage. My wife jokes that I only work one hour a day, but the life of a comedian is more than that. It’s not easy; it’s a constant process of honing your craft, always having jokes, ideas, and observations running through your mind. (And…disappointing your parents.)
一小时的段子其实是从约八个小时的素材里，经过数月数年提炼出来的。我妻子开玩笑说我每天只工作一小时，但其实远不止如此。这是一个不断磨练技艺的过程，脑子里时刻得有想法，得时刻观察(……这份工作可能还会让父母失望）。
Your support means everything, and while we get to entertain, it’s the hard workers in society who keep things running smoothly that I truly appreciate. If I could, I’d come to your work and clap every time you accomplished a task. Thank you, everyone.
