According to her friends and family members posted on social media, the missing woman’s name is Jin Fang (Fang Jin) and lives in Guangdong, China. Jin Fang met a man from California online and communicated with him for six months.

She then took a train from the city of Los Angeles to the Palm Springs area . A man picked her up and planned to take her around the Morongo Basin.

Jin’s family said police checked CCTV（Closed-Circuit Television） at a local camping site on July 22 and identified her companions as John Fitzpatrick, who was also missing. The last position of Fitzpatrick was found by the police was in the small town of Julian, California, on July 24.
金芳的家人表示，警方查看了7月22日当地一露营点的监控，确认金芳的同行者为同样失踪的约翰·菲茨帕特里克。警方获取的菲茨帕特里克的最后一次定位在加利福尼亚朱利安小镇，时间是7月24日。
His family is still waiting for news from the local police, and no progress has been made so far.
