The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) will continue to offer a viable solution for bolstering global governance and infusing robust momentum into the world’s economic growth, China’s top foreign trade and investment promotion agency said on Monday.

With the Belt and Road CEO Conference set to be held in Beijing on Tuesday, Yu Jianlong, vice-chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, or CCPIT, one of the conference organizers, said agreements on a significant number of practical cooperation projects, involving domestic as well as foreign partners, will be signed during the conference.

“These projects span 68 countries and regions and encompass various industries, including infrastructure, clean energy, artificial intelligence, biopharmaceuticals, financial services, modern agriculture and rail transportation,” Yu said on Monday.

In terms of the number of projects, the countries involved and the deal amounts, the projects significantly surpass the last CEO conference, which was held in 2019, he added.

The conference is expected to bring together more than 1,200 participants.

Over the past decade, the BRI has contributed to the development of over 3,000 cooperative projects worldwide and has been a driving force behind the substantial expansion of the China-Europe freight train service, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the Air Silk Road, Yu said.

The BRI has also brought valuable opportunities for the development of participant countries, providing support in poverty alleviation, job creation and improving people’s livelihoods, in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, said Zhao Ping, dean of the CCPIT Academy.

Over the past decade, Chinese companies have created more than 420,000 jobs in overseas economic and trade cooperation zones in countries involved in the BRI, data from the CCPIT showed.

China’s trade with economies involved in the BRI rose 3.1 percent year-on-year to 14.32 trillion yuan in the first three quarters of 2023, accounting for 46.5 percent of its total foreign trade value during this period, according to the General Administration of Customs.

备受瞩目的第三届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛将于10月17日至18日在北京举行，这是庆祝共建“一带一路”倡议十周年最隆重的活动。

高峰论坛期间，由中国贸促会、国务院国资委、全国工商联举办的“一带一路”企业家大会将于今日在国家会议中心举行。据了解，大会包括全体会议和签约仪式两个环节。

各国工商界是共建“一带一路”的参与者、贡献者和主力军。据了解，本届“一带一路”企业家大会将会有1200余人参会，中外代表约各占一半。

与会代表来自6大洲82个国家和地区的367家企业和机构，其中包括20余位外方部长级官员、33家外国商会负责人和59家世界500强企业代表。他们的到来，也充分展现出，对推进高质量共建“一带一路”的信心和期待。

会议将重点从坚持开放合作、深化互联互通、坚持绿色发展、推进数字经济合作、坚持合规经营和履行社会责任等方面，凝聚工商界互利合作共识，发布“一带一路”企业家大会北京宣言。

据介绍，在各方共同努力下，一大批中外务实合作项目将在大会期间签约。不论是项目数、涉及国别，还是签约金额，都有望超过上届“一带一路”企业家大会。

“一带一路”实施以来，所取得成绩有目共睹，数据显示，十年来，中国已同150多个国家和30多个国际组织签署了230余份共建“一带一路”合作文件，形成了3000多个合作项目，拉动了超万亿美元的投资规模，为合作国家了创造42万个就业岗位，4000多万人摆脱贫困。

海关数据显示，今年前三季度，我国对共建“一带一路”国家进出口14.32万亿元，同比增长3.1%，占进出口总值的46.5%。
