问：发出离心却发不出来，怎么办呢？
Question: What can we do if renunciation cannot be generated?
答：出离心是菩提心的基础，但是出离心也不是无缘无故、想发就能发出来的。如果没有人身难得、寿命无常、因果不虚、轮回过患这些四外加行的修法，不可能有出离心。四外加行修好了，出离心自然而然就会产生！对轮回没有丝毫的贪着，对世间没有丝毫的留恋，这才是真正的出离心。有些人偶尔遇到困难、遇到麻烦的时候，会对世间生起厌倦的心，但这不是出离心，而是逃避心。一定不要轻易舍弃加行的修法，别小看这些！这都是最殊胜、最重要的修法。修正行不难，难在修加行。修出离心、菩提心都特别难，修正行的时候没有什么可难的。地基打好了，盖楼就快了。为什么很多人修了很多年，却没有任何成就？原因就在于没有基础的修法，却直接抓那些高深的法，直接修正行了。
Guru’s answer: Renunciation is the basis of bodhicitta; it is not generated for no reason, or whenever you want to have it, it will just arise。 Without practicing the method of four ordinary foundations which include hard to obtain a human body, impermanence of life, true causality and defects of samsara, it is impossible to generate renunciation。 Once you practice the four ordinary foundations properly, you will have renunciation naturally。 Without the slightest attachment to samsara and the slightest clinging to this mundane world will guarantee genuine renunciation。
Some people might arise renunciation when they experience difficulties or have some troubles; however, this is not renunciation but instead escaping problems。 Do not give up the practice of ordinary foundations easily and do not look down on all of these。 They are the most extraordinary and the most important practices。 Performing the main part of practice is not difficult, it is the preliminary practices that are difficult。 To generate renunciation and bodhicitta is particularly hard; however, when you perform the main part of practice, you will find nothing difficult。
After laying a foundation, a house can be built very quickly。 What is the reason that many people have practiced for several years without making achievement? It is because they don’t have basic practices but pursue for advanced Dharma such as the main practice straightaway。
