《道德经》第五十六章原文：
知者不言，言者不知。塞其兑，闭其门；挫其锐，解其纷；和其光，同其尘，是谓玄同。故不可得而亲，亦不可得而疏；不可得而利，亦不可得而害；不可得而贵，亦不可得而贱；故为天下贵。
根据我粗浅的理解译为：
聪明的人不到处乱说乱讲，而到处乱说乱讲的人不是聪明的人。管住诱惑欲望的感官，关闭通向邪恶的门径，不轻易显露锋芒，消解与外界的纷争，收敛得意忘形的光彩，混同尘世，这就是深奥的混同，可叫做“玄同”。达到这种混同境界的人，已经没有人可以亲近他，也没有人可以疏远他；没有人可以给予利益，也没有人可以施加伤害；没有人可以使他尊贵，也没有人使他卑贱。所以玄妙混同的做人境界真是为天下人所珍视。

The wise man dos not talk everywhere without thinking；he who talks everywhere without thinking is not a wise man. Keep the senses that cause desire under control；close the doorways that lead to evil；hide your light under a bushel；solve disputes with others；restrain your arrogant mood reasonably；adapt for the envionment that you live in. This is the profound confusion，also it can be called the “mysterious confusion”. If one achieves this otherworldly realm of life，no one can get close to him or alienate him，no one can benefit him or hurt him，and no one can make him noble or humble. So the realm of “mysterious confusion” is really cherished and pursued by all the people in the world.
