Recently ourGrade 5studentswere thrilled when, as an introduction to their second unit of inquiry on “Who We Are”,theywere taken into the MYP science lab to experiencefirst-handwhat real mammalian organs look and feel like.

Research shows that hands on experiences for students capitalizes on their propensity and desire to learn and this was evident during their time in the lab. Students were encouraged to make connections to their own body systems and personal experiences through various thinking routines.They also benefitted fromgroup discussions along with conversationswith our MYP Science teachers andour EAL teachers who were there to lend support in this very exciting exploration.
