China unveiled a plan on Wednesday to promote a circular economy for the next five years, aiming to basically establish a resources recycling system in the country by 2025 as part of efforts to achieve carbon peak and neutrality goals.
为推动实现碳达峰、碳中和，7月7日，国家发改委印发《”十四五”循环经济发展规划》。
The plan, released by the National Development and Reform Commission, specifies that China’s energy and water consumption per unit of gross domestic product will be lowered by about 13.5% and 16%, respectively, by 2025, from 2020 levels. Efficiency of resource utilization will be greatly improved by 2025, with the circular economy playing a bigger role in ensuring resource security, reads the document.
《规划》提到，预计到2025年，资源循环型产业体系基本建立，单位GDP能源消耗、用水量比2020年分别降低13.5%、16%左右。资源利用效率大幅提高，循环经济对资源安全的支撑保障作用进一步凸显。
Under the plan, the amount of waste paper and scrap steel utilized will reach 60 million tons and 320 million tons by 2025, respectively, while the industrial output value of the resource recycling industry will be 5 trillion yuan.
废纸利用量达到6000万吨，废钢利用量达到3.2亿吨，资源循环利用产业产值达到5万亿元。
The plan also outlines major projects and tasks for developing the circular economy in the following five years, including innovations in key technologies and equipment, the treatment of plastic pollution, eco-friendly express packaging, and the recycling of car batteries.
《规划》还提出了”十四五”循环经济发展的重点工程与任务，包括关键技术和设备创新、塑料污染治理、快递包装绿色转型和废旧动力电池循环利用。

>Ancient tomb cluster unearthed in East China

Archaeologists have excavated 12 ancient tombs dating back to the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) in East China’s Shandong province, the local archeology institute said Wednesday. The tomb cluster, which includes 11 tombs with exquisitely carved brick murals, is located in the eastern suburbs of the provincial capital Jinan, said Li Ming, director of the city’s archeology institute.
济南市考古研究院院长李铭7月7日宣布，考古人员在山东省省会济南市的东郊发掘出12座元代家族墓葬，其中11座为造型刻画精美的砖雕壁画墓。
The written evidence found there suggests that the tombs belonged to a family surnamed Guo in the late Yuan Dynasty, said Li, adding that the scale of the tomb cluster is the largest among the unearthed brick mural tombs of the Yuan Dynasty in the province.
据李铭介绍，本次发掘通过出土文字证据确认，墓群为元代晚期的郭氏家族墓群。该墓群的规模堪称山东地区已知元代砖雕壁画墓中最大的一个。
Over 60 pieces of pottery and porcelain wares, bronze mirrors, copper coins and other cultural relics were unearthed during the excavation, which will help with the study of porcelain during the Yuan Dynasty reign in the region and the surrounding areas.
本次发掘共出土陶器、瓷器、铜镜、铜钱等文物共计60余件套，可为该地区以及周边地区元代瓷器的研究提供帮助。

Haitian President Jovenel Moise was shot dead at his home, Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph said in a statement early on Wednesday.

Moise has been ruling Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, by decree, after legislative elections due in 2018 were delayed.

Thousands of people have fallen prey to an elaborate wide-ranging scam selling fake coronavirus vaccines in India, with doctors and medical workers among those arrested for their involvement, authorities say.

The fake vaccination drives took place between late May and early June.

Authorities began investigating after some of the scam victims, suspicious of the vaccination certificates they received, reported it to police.

At least 12 fake vaccination drives were held in or near the financial hub Mumbai, in the country’s western Maharashtra state, said Vishal Thakur, a senior official from the Mumbai police department.
