play it by ear
由此意引申出来后,”play by ear”强调事件的“即兴”成分,没有计划、依据当时情况而行事(to let things go as they may),很有“边走边看吧,走着瞧,随机应变”的味道。
例:
We can't make a decision yet. Let's just play it by ear.
It's your choice/call.
A: What should I cook for dinner tonight?
B: It's your call. I'm actually not that hungry.
rain check
A:How about a cup of coffee?
B:Rain check
have it your way
To do what one wants or maintain a situation as desired. Typically used as an imperative when the speaker is irritated, often because their advice is being ignored.
Fine, have it your way—sit in the sun. But I won't be the one slathering aloe on you if you get sunburned!
I'm cool with it.
That/it is acceptable to me; I'm OK with that/it.
Yeah, we could leave later – I'm cool with that.
