很多同学都不知道，blind 还可动词。当blind作动词时，其本义是「使…看不见」，还可表示光芒「使…眼花，目眩」。比如：When I went outside I was temporarily blinded by the sun. 走出户外时，我一时被阳光照得眼睛昏花。
由此，blind还可引申为「使…盲目，无法意识到」。 be blinded by sth 便表示「被…蒙蔽，被…欺骗」。
比如他被仇恨蒙蔽的了双眼：He was blinded by hatred.
《福布斯》一篇文章探讨了气候变化与新冠肺炎之间可能存在关联，其标题就使用了这个短语：
