【习语注释】
该习语的字面意思是“披着羊皮的狼”，用来喻指“someone who hides malicious intent under the guise of kindliness”，即“以友善为幌子隐藏恶意的人”。但是，在汉语里更为常用的反倒是其字面意思的表达，即“披着羊皮的狼”。

【闲话习语】
该习语最初出现在《伊索寓言》（Aesop's Fables）里，后来在《圣经》（King James Version, 1611）里也有同样的喻指运用：
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
而更早于该英语版本的运用则原则英国教士、神学家、基督教改革运动的先驱约翰·威克里夫（John Wyclif）的圣经译文里（1382）：
Be ye war of fals prophetis, that comen to you in clothing is of scheep, but withynneforth thei ben as wolues of raueyn.
